Au Ladakh, les personnes âgées psalmodient « on mani padme um » à longueur de journée en égrainant leur mala, en faisant tourner les moulins à prière ou en tournant autour des stupas en pierre pour demander protection et éloigner les dangers.
 
In Ladakh, elderly people chant "on mani padme um" all day long while ringing their malas, turning prayer wheels or circling stone chortens to ask for protection and ward off danger.
